Get ready for a new station that’s about to hit the airwaves this January. After the success of Hot FM and Fly FM the Media Prima Radio Network (MPRN) is ready to launch its third station, One FM that is targeted to listeners under 30 from the Chinese-speaking community. Operating from Sri Pentas in Bandar Utama, One FM will be going on-air via the frequency of 88.1FM in the Klang Valley, Johor and Melaka, 87.8FM in Penang and Kedah and 87.5FM in Ipoh.
One FM will be broadcast in Mandarin and Cantonese. The radio station format is similar to Hot FM and Fly FM as it strives to serve the best of Chinese contemporary music with a dash of the latest English hit music. Songs aired will comprise 90 per cent Chinese and 10 per cent English music.
New faces and talents of the new station line-up that will liven up each day of the week are Jeff, Jane, Lucas, Sumi, Jack, Ryan, Kyan and Suki. Look out for the Monday to Friday lineup that includes Morning Kaki, Non- Stop Music, Music Party and Happy Hour. On the weekend there’s the Top Chart Show, Saturday Party, Happy Dedication, New Releases and Sunday Kopitiam.
Head of Radio Networks, Ahmad Izham Omar believes that the existence of One FM will not only enrich the country’s radio industry, but it will also fill the airwaves with the latest Chinese hits. Not only that, but new local Chinese acts will be able to make their debut and expand the Chinese music industry.
